Laura Stevens is a contemporary wildlife artist from Eastern Ontario, Canada. She works primarily in acrylics, using its quick drying qualities to create bright engaging portraits of Canadian animals. Drawn to abstraction, she follows her innate desire to simplify the creature into geometric forms. Her work is driven by curiosity.
I choose to abstract the animal to its barest form. As a painter, it is my goal to catch the eye, and I am forever working towards discovering the barest form of the subject; What commands attention, while simultaneously eliciting an emotional response from the viewer.
