I create digital art on photoshop, starting with simple shapes and gradients, which are then layered and warped to create flowing, organic compositions. These are then printed and mounted onto a panel and mdf frame which are traced and cut to the shape of the digital work. They are then sealed with layers of varnish blown with compressed air to create a rippling, water-like surface. Finally the sides of the frame and panel are painted up to the edge of the print creating a clean and seamless transition.
My work explores how digital creations can mimic qualities of living systems. I create compositions inspired by depictions of microscopic processes I encountered while studying biochemistry, then place them within sculptural housings. This allows them to be experienced as physical, spatial objects in an attempt to bridge the divide between the artificial and the living.
