David Adshade

David Adshade is a Canadian visual artist whose practice investigates the relationship between material transformation and conceptual expression. Working primarily in Industrial Abstraction, he employs metals such as steel, iron, copper, and bronze to explore processes of oxidation and decay. These materials undergo natural chemical reactions that reveal complex surface textures and patinas, becoming both the medium and the metaphor for change, impermanence, and renewal.

Adshade’s work embodies a synthesis of intuition and discipline. For over two decades, his creative process has centered on the pursuit of expression and freedom—the freedom to question convention and the discipline to shape that inquiry into a cohesive visual language. His approach is iterative and reflective, informed equally by experimentation, technical exploration, and the passage of time.
