I draw colour pencil portraits of wildlife, with a touch of whimsy! I draw freehand on Bristol Vellum and Hot Press Watercolour Paper, layering oil and wax-based colour pencil to build varying textures. Drawings can take from six to 60 hours and have 15 layers or more by completion.
Being self-taught, I will admit there is a lot of erasing involved in the artistic process, as well. Influenced by my favourite childhood Authours & Illustrators, Beatrix Potter and Jan Brett, and with a penchant for storytelling myself, I write a unique story printed on a laminated card to accompany every drawing, offering an engaging way for viewers to deepen the connection to my art.
